Bikini Hair Removal: Everything You Need to Know

One of our most popular areas of laser hair removal is the bikini area. Likewise, we also have many questions surrounding such a private area. Here’s everything you need to know about bikini-area laser hair removal.

Perhaps the most confusing part of this laser hair removal is knowing exactly what area you want and the name for the treatment. There are three main types of bikini laser hair removal.

Bikini Line

This one is self-explanatory. If you’re wanting to clean up the bikini line and nothing else, this is the treatment you’re looking for. A Bikini Line treatment will clean up the visible areas so that you can feel confident to rock that bathing suit this summer.

Extended Bikini

Extended Bikini treatments are the least-known area, but are a very popular treatment. Extended Bikini is just what it sounds like- an extended version of the Bikini Line. This treatment will go in a little farther to take care of any movement of your bathing suits, or are great for someone simply wanting to get rid of a little more hair.

Brazilian Bikini

This treatment removes it all. No worries, our technicians are professional and clean and will get the job done as quickly as possible while being safe. If you’ve ever had a Brazilian bikini wax, you’ll know that this treatment is much preferred. It is the most painless way to have a hair-free bikini area without stubble, ingrown hairs, or constant maintenance.

Before Your Treatment

Because this is such a sensitive area to treat, we have some guidelines to make your experience the best it can be.

Because of our state-of-the-art lasers, dark skin typically isn’t a concern when it comes to laser hair removal. However, because of the sensitivity, we advise that sun/tanning exposure should be limited before any laser hair treatment (not just bikini!). If you can’t avoid it altogether, be sure to use plenty of sunscreen to avoid burns.

Waxing + Shaving

As with all laser hair treatments, you should shave just before your session. Shaving does not destroy the hair follicle and allows the laser to see the root. Hold off on waxing, however, because the follicle needs to be entirely intact for the best results.

Comfy Undies

After your treatment, a topical solution will be applied to sooth the area. Most customers feel little to no pain after a bikini laser hair treatment. We still recommend soft cotton undergarments and loose pants to prevent further irritation, if possible.

Does it Last?

“Is laser hair removal permanent?” is probably the #1 question our technicians are asked. You’ll be happy to know that 90% of patient report the permanent loss of unwanted hair following laser hair removal treatment.

It should be known that the results of laser hair removal are dependent on a few factors including the area, your skin type, and hair type. We use state-of-the-art Picoway lasers that can successfully remove almost any hair. To achieve successful hair loss, it’s important that patients follow our guidelines well and take care of the hair removal area.
